Faulu Microfinance Bank, Kenya's largest microfinance bank and a member of South Africa's Old Mutual Group, has completed its migration from a legacy core banking system to a new platform built on MuRong M5 and MuRong IDO. The programme brought Faulu's new core banking environment and digital service channels into production within ten months.

The go live marks a major milestone in Faulu's banking modernisation programme and, once again, represents a significant African implementation of MuRong M5 and MuRong IDO.
The new platform brings core banking and digital financial services, including online lending, onto an integrated foundation. Customers can access services through ATM, POS, web, mobile app and USSD channels, enabling Faulu to serve individuals and micro, small and medium sized enterprises across digital and assisted service points.
The implementation also connected the platform with dozens of existing systems and third-party services, including Cheque clearing system, SWIFT, RTGS, EFT, M PESA and PesaLink. Legacy data was migrated through a carefully managed cutover designed to support system stability and service continuity.
The ten-month delivery drew on the broad product coverage and open, distributed architecture of MuRong M5 and MuRong IDO, together with MuRong's core banking delivery experience and knowledge of Kenya's banking and payments environment.
MuRong M5 provides the core banking foundation for processing traditional and digital transactions while integrating with existing infrastructure. MuRong IDO provides the integration platform and digital front end across multiple channels, helping the bank configure and introduce services more efficiently.
Together, the platforms give Faulu an integrated foundation for transaction processing, digital service delivery, partner connectivity and regulatory compliance. They also broaden the ways the bank can reach customers and support future product development.
MuRong will continue working with Faulu to extend digital financial services, strengthen its product portfolio and support its financial inclusion priorities. MuRong will also continue developing M5 and IDO by combining standardised product capabilities with local market requirements and the security, resilience and performance expected of critical banking systems.
